Web Sites

My work on web sites is varied, including aspects of graphic design, mockups, XHTML, CSS, custom PHP coding, database design and integration, and user workflow improvements.

Solid-Phase Organic Syntheses required a completely new design with additional PHP scripting to handle contact and submission functionality. This site employs microformats where applicable, imparting richer semantics onto the raw XHTML, styled with CSS.

University of Nevada, Reno Department of Chemistry commissioned a complete overhaul of all HTML to XHTML with design treatment through CSS. The design was deliberately chosen to be modular, allowing components to be reused throughout the site. The old site, being primarily text-based, was reformed graphically with blues and silvers consistent with school colors and through elements that maintain a simple, yet vibrant new look for the department.

Truckee Precision needed new pages to be created and altered to match new design created by Great Basin Internet Services. Content was provided and pages created using HTML, per existing site guidelines. [Note: This look is no longer in use.]

FREE-CMA.net is primarily an information-only site, and the design constraints stemmed on conveying that information in a succinct and appealing manner. The bright colors were chosen to attract attention, while using simple text treatment to convey facts. The result is a simple, easy-to-navigate site for home owners wanted to know the value of their home. All pages are XHTML/CSS compliant.

GET-HUGE.net needed integration between their shopping cart and the UPS Shipping Rates XML service. Code was tested and implemented to return rates based on package weight, dimensions and selected shipping methods. [Note: This look is no longer in use.]

Antique Gun List asked for a classified ads solution customized to his needs. Work included setup, coding and design. Original mockup design by Great Basin Internet Services, adapted by myself to fit within the code base.

Attorney Guide asked for a complete rework of code base, redesign, and collaboration with SEO, Inc. to optimize content for search engine placement. Original design by Great Basin Internet Services was modified by myself to use standards-compliant, validating XHTML. [Note: This look is no longer in use.]

Team MacNN, serving as the distributed computing team affiliated with MacNN, decided to use the Geeklog content management system to allow for easier organization of team news and display of distributed computing statistics. All design (save the header) was created by me and adapted to Geeklog.

Sensory Output v2 was a long time coming. Debuting during my first year of medical school, v2 relies on Kyle Neath’s Hemingway WordPress theme. Customized to fit my needs, Hemingway offered a light-weight, easy solution to serve as my look.

Sensory Output v1, my weblog, designed by myself using standards-compliant XHTML and CSS, serves to educate others on my work and make my presence known on the web. I present my anecdotes and more. [Note: This look is no longer in use.]

Sinclair Imports, Inc. intranet included web application work that integrated with Microsoft Dynamics accounting database (formerly Microsoft Great Plains), allowing for manipulation of sales, inventory, and financial information for easy access on the local network.
