Relief

Well, by now, the mass hysteria has receded a bit and we have new products (both software and hardware) to drool over and ponder purchasing. There’s the Mac mini, iPod shuffle, iLife ‘05, iWork ‘05, and Final Cut Express HD. Needless to say, I think there is something for every Apple fanatic. My particular fascination centers on iWork, specifically Keynote 2 and Pages. Having already bought, owned and used Keynote 1, upgrading was a no brainer: the software is simple and powerful, it outputs beautiful text and graphics, and as most Apple product’s are, Keynote is a joy to use.

In perusing Apple’s new product pages, I noticed an interesting disclaimer/note at the bottom of the Mac mini page, seen here:

Megaphone? Perhaps they meant microphone, but I could be wrong.

Well, stop reading this blog and go wallow in all your new Apple products, you materialistic fiend.

I just got through watching the QT stream and I’m impressed (it’s one of my few materialistic moments of the year with the exception of my constant dreams of a carbon fiber bike). I’m thinking about getting an iPod shuffle, but I’m wondering if the simple next track/prev. track is going to be satisfactory for searching through music. But at $99 who am I to argue?

The think the size (512 MB or 1 GB) really makes not having a screen to know what is next not really a problem. You choose the best music you have that you enjoy and listen to it at random. Or make a playlist with the order you prefer.

That just isn’t possible when you have GBs of music, but with a few hundred songs it makes perfect sense.
