OLED would be ideal, but alas, we have no TV as we sold our old one. Plus, we cannot wait 3-5 years.

Plasma is enticing except for the whole fading in five years mongering. LCD is OK, except that it is a transmission technology, selectively blocking out the light passing through it in order to give the three primary colors. OLED, of course, is the best of both worlds: it's an emissive technology that will not fade. Its use thus far has been restricted to a few digital cameras and a single model of the Sony Clié PDA(Personal Digital Assistant).

Gotta wait until the OLEDs come out. I'm not sure why, but that's what the OLED manufacturers/groups have been saying.
