.Mac Renewal (Barely)
I renewed my .Mac account, using Amazon to purchase the renewal for $79 instead of Apple’s $99. $99/year is steep for the services they offer, but I use them regularly and look forward to expanded services. I fought myself over whether I would renew or not, but in the end, renewal won out. Hopefully Apple can better justify the cost, or I will just have to make do with a home-brewed solution for the various aspects of .Mac next year.
I really like the iSync services across multiple computers. Tiger will allow more of that and even greater integration with the OS when it is released, so things are looking brighter. Apple did just announce the increase of storage space for users up to 250 MB (up from 100 MB) that can be split between email and disk space at the user’s discretion. I prefer to keep my mail stored locally, so most of that will definitely be hit up for disk space. I often bumped up against that 100 MB limit last year, requiring that I clean out old files more often than time really allows. It should be better now.
