Past Work
I have previously worked as an independent web design/programming contractor for several clients, including Great Basin Internet Services. I have five years experience with PHP programming, SQL database design and management, XHTML/CSS layout, and JavaScript. Some of my large projects have included the intranet at Sinclair Imports, Inc., redesign and recoding of AttorneyGuide.com, and custom implementation of a classifieds solution at AntiqueGunList.com. Additionally, I share in management responsibilities of the distributed computing team site for the MacNN community on a volunteer basis.
Beyond my web-oriented skills, I have extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Great Plains accounting application, including knowledge of database design, internal workings of the various modules (Sales Order Processing, Inventory, Purchasing, etc.), and Visual Basic for purposes of customization. I was the Project Manager for the implementation of this new accounting package at Sinclair Imports in 2001 and oversaw its continual development and adaptation to meet the specific needs of the bicycle parts wholesale industry.
Along with maintenance and modification, the Microsoft SQL database backend was linked to the Intranet using PHP code, allowing for manipulation of data, live reporting of relevant information (i.e. up-to-the-minute sales statistics, warehouse picking schedules, inventory out-of-stock status reports, etc.). All of these contributed greatly to a streamlined, unhindered workflow in virtually every aspect of the company. Various programs were mastered and used on a regular basis including (but not limited to) Crystal Reports, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access.
